Riding Equitation Lessons

Herrold Stables, LLC has been an active part of the Equine community for over 40 years. As trainers and owners of several wild mustangs, they have mastered the skill of horsemanship and oneness with the equine. Students are taught how to “read” the horse’s body language and how to move the horse to complete the task at hand. The horse, when allowed to use his natural ability to reason through any new task, will develop an unbreakable trust and loyalty to their human partner. This trust will carry his rider on to achieve an even deeper awareness of the equine bond. Our program is geared for the adult student but can be adapted for youth riders. We are also able to adapt instruction for the special needs student.

Once ground skills are mastered, proper equitation riding is taught to students. They then cover basic equitation that encourages oneness and balance with the equine mount.  With natural horsemanship approach, the student is taught exercises specially designed to improve balance, rhythm, and control. Mastering the art of riding will develop lifelong confidence in both the young and old rider. Herrold Stables’ exercises are designed to strengthen students middle core, lower leg, and ankle muscles. Each student is given “homework” to continue learning more at home. Bi-weekly instructions are suggested for accelerated learning. Individual or group lessons available weekly also. Current Riding Disciplines offered: English Pleasure, Dressage, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship & Showmanship

The Beginning Student: Students are taught leading, tying, haltering, tacking up, equipment maintenance, lunging, and beginning level showmanship. Once these steps are mastered the student is able to add riding at the walk, jog, trot, lop, canter, and gallop. Students progress at their own pace to master these skills.

The Intermediate Student:  After the basic steps are complete, the student is taught how to reach additional techniques. Some of these disciplines may include Dressage, Jumping, Driving, and Pleasure Show Classes.

The Advanced Student: In this step the student is able to bring together all aspects of the equine and equitation riding. The student will enjoy performing in several shows or events in one or more disciplines.

Herrold Stables Horses:  Each schoolmaster horse and pony is hand-picked for safety and teaching ability. As owners of several exceptional equines we are able to match rider based on their size and ability. Our horses range in size from our 10 hand pony to 17.1 hand finished pleasure horse. We offer Adult and Youth lessons for all skill levels, and a variety of Equestrian disciplines.
