Many older people like myself (over 60) who had horses as a kid might think they can’t ride anymore because of an old injury or pain associated with arthritis. I thought the same until I found Herrold Stables and Elaine, the very knowledgeable owner/trainer. I was afraid that I wouldn’t even be able to finish the whole hour lesson because of pain, but afterward I had less pain. The tension in my tight hip joints is relieved through Elaine’s reminder to take my feet out of the stirrups and swing my legs and move my feet around. She also provides a lift under the saddle as well as a mounting block. The freedom of being in the saddle again is more than words can describe. With Elaine’s caring guidance I have regained my confidence riding while also improving my balance, muscle strength, and mental state.” Thanks, Dana Plautz
